The kingdom is in danger."

His mother waved her hand

"Let them approach!"

The soldiers gasped

"Let them approach?" one whispered

"Yes!" another replied. "She doesn't know who they are!"

Kazuma's mother continued

"Did you think I gave birth to you so you could be fighting wars every week? Who will help me carry the bag of rice I bought yesterday?"

Kazuma lowered his head

"Mother, I am a general."

"And I am your mother!"

The entire army went silent

That sentence alone had more authority than the king's entire army

Kazuma tried one final time

"Mother, please. I have 500 soldiers waiting for me."

She looked at the soldier.

"Good. They can help you wash the clothes when you return."

At this point, Kazuma's horse began moving backwards

The horse knew

Even the horse knew that this battle was not worth fighting

One soldier whispered to another

"Is this the first time the general has been defeated?"

The other replied

"Yes."

"By whom?"

"His mother."

"With what weapon?"

The soldier looked at the slipper

"That thing."

Kazuma's mother suddenly raised the slipper

"Kazuma! If you don't come home now, I will show you the 51st battle!"

The legendary warrior immediately dismounted

"Mother, please. I am coming."

His soldiers were shocked

The man who had defeated 50 armies had surrendered without drawing his sword

The king came down from the palace

"Warrior Kazuma, what is happening?"

Kazuma bowed his head

"Your Majesty, I must attend to a personal matter."

The king looked at his mother

Then at the slipper

Then at Kazuma

He nodded

"Of course. Family comes first."

He turned to the soldiers

"Let us postpone the war."

One soldier raised his hand

"Your Majesty, what if the enemy attacks?"

The king sighed

"Then we shall tell them to come back tomorrow."

๐

And so, the greatest warrior in the kingdom returned home

Not because he was afraid of death

Not because he feared the enemy

But because his mother had threatened to give him the 51st battle

And everybody knew that was one battle he could never win

That evening, Kazuma sat in the kitchen, washing his clothes

His two swords were leaning against the wall

His arrows were lying on the floor

His famous battle scar was hidden beneath his shirt

And his mother?

She was sitting comfortably in the living room, watching her favourite television programme

Suddenly, Kazuma's younger sister walked in

"Brother, why are you washing clothes?"

Kazuma looked at her

"Because I am a warrior."

She frowned

"What does that have to do with washing clothes?"

He sighed

"One day, you will understand."

She nodded

Then she picked up his sword

"Can I use this to cut my birthday cake?"

Kazuma immediately jumped up

"NOOOOO!"

His mother shouted from the living room

"KAZUMAAAA!"

He dropped the sword

"Yes, Mother!"

And that was how the Shadow of a Thousand Battles learned that the real enemy was not on the battlefield

It was inside his own house

To this day, people still wonder how Kazuma survived 50 wars

But those who knew his mother understood one thing

The real reason he was fearless was because he had already been raised by the most dangerous woman in the kingdom

And if you ever meet Kazuma in battle, do not ask him whether he is afraid

Just ask him

"Have you washed your clothes today?"

If he says no...

Run

Because his mother might be coming ๐
