Apart from lectures and examinations, there are some important things that can make the journey easier if we learn them early.

It’s undoubtable that your CGPA matters, but it is not everything. Take your academics seriously, but also develop your skills, gain experience, build relationships and work on yourself.

Do not wait until your final year before looking for opportunities. Start searching for internships, scholarships, conferences, volunteering opportunities and other experiences that can expose you to what is beyond the classroom.

Learn how to communicate and connect with people. The way you express yourself, write, network and present yourself can open doors for you.

Do not compare your progress with someone else’s journey. Some people may look ahead of you, while others may seem behind. Focus on your own growth and keep moving.

Most importantly, start discovering what you want to become early. You do not need to have everything figured out, but you should explore your interests, develop your abilities and take steps towards the future you want.

University can give you a degree, but what you do with your years there can determine what that degree means for your future.

What is one thing you wish someone had told you before you entered university?
