An exploration of faith, culture, tradition, identity, and the courage to choose your own life.

There is something deeply powerful about this story, and I don't think it is simply about a girl who wants to make her own decisions.

It is about a girl who grew up being told what was right, what was acceptable, what was godly, what was respectful, and what a good daughter should look like. A girl who learned to obey before she learned to question. A girl who learned to seek God's permission before she learned to recognise her own convictions. A girl who was taught that certain decisions were too important to be made without the approval of culture, family, religion, and the people who had lived before her.

And then, one day, she began to wonder.

What if I want something different?

What if the life I want does not look like the life everyone has imagined for me?

What if I love God but do not agree with every religious expectation placed upon me?

What if I respect my culture but do not want every aspect of it to become a rule for my existence?

What if I want to get married, but I want to understand marriage beyond the way society has presented it to me?

What if I want to make a decision simply because I have thought about it, considered its consequences, and arrived at a conviction?

Must I hear an audible voice from heaven before I am allowed to trust the wisdom God has helped me develop?

And perhaps the most uncomfortable question of all:

What happens when I become a person my upbringing did not prepare my family to understand?

This is where Tola's story begins to mean something.

Not because she wants to rebel. Not necessarily because she wants to abandon everything she has been taught. But because she wants to discover which parts of her life she has genuinely chosen and which parts she has simply inherited.

And that distinction matters.

Because there is a difference between living by conviction and living by instruction alone.

There is a difference between choosing a way of life because you believe in it and choosing it because you are afraid of what might happen if you don't.

And there is a difference between honouring your roots and being unable to grow beyond them.

We'll explore the heart of this story in the next episode

Be free to disagree

Byeeeee🤍

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
Top Engagers
For the Top Engagers Track, we award the top 3 people who engage the most with other user's content via
comments.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Engagers" tab on the rankings page.
Most Engaged Content
The Most Engaged Content recognizes users whose content received the most engagement during the month.
We pick the top 3.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Contributors" tab on the rankings page.
Contributor Rankings
The Rankings/Leaderboard shows the Top 20 contributors and engagers on TwoCents a monthly and all-time basis
— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
This page also shows the top engagers on an all-time & monthly basis.
