A GROWING THING IN A DYING SPACE
<p>I just feel like my entire life I've been in a dome </p><p>A tiny dome </p><p>And at the beginning it was easy to ignore the dome</p><p>To excuse it</p><p>To follow the rules of the dome</p><p>To pretend it wasn't choking the air out of me. </p><p><br/></p><p>Now I can't help but question the dome</p><p>The dome and I have been part of each other for two decades.</p><p>Two</p><p>Two decades </p><p>I don't know life without the dome</p><p>I've imagined it</p><p>But I've never known it </p><p><br/></p><p>I've overgrown the dome</p><p>But it never gets any bigger </p><p>It never expands</p><p>It never adapts</p><p>It never considers </p><p><br/></p><p>It simply stays the same </p><p>Actually, no </p><p>The dome— it shrinks</p><p>I think the bigger I grew</p><p>The smaller it became</p><p>It was matching my pace </p><p>But in retrogression </p><p><br/></p><p>So the faster I grew big</p><p>The faster it grew small</p><p>If I stopped asking </p><p>Stopped fighting </p><p>Stopped growing </p><p>The dome — it simply stopped </p><p>Almost like....</p><p>Almost like, if I challenge the dome then it chokes me out </p><p><br/></p><p>And all the dome wants is to be obeyed</p><p>To be respected </p><p><br/></p><p>But I never resented the dome, did I?</p><p>I never ....</p><p>I never hated it</p><p>I simply asked that the dome gave me more</p><p>That the dome let me out </p><p>For some air </p><p>For some oxygen </p><p><br/></p><p>I know the dome is meant to protect me</p><p>But I also know the more time I spend within the dome, the faster it'll kill me </p><p><br/></p><p>Does the dome realise?</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p> — ✍🏼: OLUDAIRO DOLAPO JESUVIVI</p>
