BEING DELULU IS FUN UNTIL REALITY SENDS THE INVOICE

PRESTIGE TALK

Conversations Our Generation Needs to Have

Being delulu is fun. 😂

You see one tiny sign and suddenly your imagination has already done overtime.

Someone says, “We should hang out sometime.”

You've picked the outfit.

You've imagined the pictures.

You've planned the location.

You've even started thinking about the caption.

Meanwhile, the person has probably forgotten they said it. 😭

But honestly, I don't think being delusional is always a bad thing.

Sometimes you need a little imagination to survive this life.

You need to believe that something better is possible before you actually see it.

You need to look at your current situation and still say, “This is not where my story ends.”

That's not delusion.

That's hope.

The problem starts when hope becomes an excuse not to face reality.

Because there is a very thin line between “I believe things will get better” and “I refuse to accept that things are not currently working.”

And some of us have crossed that line with confidence. 😭

We say we're going to start the business.

We keep planning.

We keep talking.

We keep buying notebooks for the plans.

But we never actually start.

We're convinced the money will somehow appear.

The opportunity will somehow come.

Everything will somehow fall into place.

Somehow, somehow, somehow.

And then reality sends the invoice.

Because life eventually asks:

“Okay… but what did you actually do?”

That's when the joke stops being funny.

And this isn't only about money or careers.

Sometimes we're delulu about people too.

Someone has shown you repeatedly that they don't want the same thing you want, but you're still holding onto the version of them you've created in your head.

"They're just scared."

"They'll change."

"They actually care, they just don't know how to show it."

"Maybe when the time is right."

Girl.

At some point, you have to stop dating potential and start paying attention to reality. 😭

Because potential is beautiful.

But potential has no delivery date.

And I think social media makes this even worse.

We're constantly surrounded by people who seem to have everything figured out.

The perfect body.

The perfect relationship.

The perfect career.

The perfect apartment.

The perfect vacation.

The perfect morning routine.

And suddenly, we start creating expectations for our own lives based on what we're watching other people display.

We want the soft life.

We want financial freedom.

We want to travel.

We want to be successful before we're even old enough to understand what success means to us.

And there's nothing wrong with wanting those things.

But wanting a beautiful life doesn't remove the work required to build one.

You cannot manifestation your way out of preparation.

You cannot positive-think your way out of responsibility.

And you definitely cannot romanticize a situation forever and expect reality to eventually agree with your imagination.

Dream.

Please, dream.

Be ambitious.

Have ridiculous goals.

Imagine yourself doing things people around you think are impossible.

Be a little delulu.

But don't let your delusion become your hiding place.

If you want the business, start learning.

If you want the degree, put in the work.

If you want the money, learn how to manage and make it.

If you want the relationship, become honest about what you actually need.

If you want a different life, you eventually have to do something different.

Because there comes a point where saying “I know it's going to work out” isn't enough.

You have to ask yourself:

“What am I doing to make it work out?”

That's the part nobody puts on Pinterest.

The dream is cute.

The vision board is cute.

The affirmations are cute.

But the 6 a.m. discipline?

The uncomfortable decisions?

The failed attempts?

The learning?

The starting again?

That's where the invoice comes in.

And maybe that's the real lesson.

Reality isn't the enemy of our dreams.

Sometimes reality is simply asking us to participate in them.

So yes, be delulu.

Dream ridiculously.

Believe in yourself before everybody else does.

Just remember to keep one foot on the ground.

Because being delulu is fun until reality sends the invoice.

And when that invoice comes…

Please make sure you can afford it. 😂

This is Prestige Talk.

Conversations our generation needs to have.
