"What will I do if Culture is not there,

it's like me removing all the colors I hold as a person.

So when I create,I splash my colors so loudly.

That's Culture for me because it makes me creative in many ways."

Culture: is it a gateway to creativity or a restriction?

I'd say both.

So before you come for me.

Let's picture a woman caged in a room, she doesn't speak to anybody.

She doesn't go out but she has a window and she sees everyone, living their life and wondering how it is out there.

Now let's come back to reality,

We define

Culture as a way of life of a group of people.

And just imagine those group of people are just like that woman locked in a room only receiving food, clothing and every necessities of life from elders. But they never know what it's like to go outside, experience it or just understand it.

I tell you

1. Some may never go outside because it has become a comfort zone for them

2. Some will escape every single day to explore and climb back to that room.

3. Some will fight with the elders and walk away from that room because they see no reason why they'd be in one room for years.

4. Some will negotiate and talk to the elders why and see reasons why they can go out.

But in my personal view. I will say

Culture gives you a gateway because culture is a way of life,it practically makes you who you are now and shapes you to who you become.

It also gives you restriction.

Yes I said so

So

Culture is a a way of life right,

Let's look at it now,

In my village, you don't sweep in the night because it is believed "in my village oo" that you are sweeping away your wealth.

So imagine someone from my village moves to the city and sees the lifestyle is different, I tell you,

That person will find it hard to sweep in the night.

Not because

Sweeping is bad thing but he or she has grown with the culture, their grandparents did it, their parents did it,so will they not do it?

Now is that not restriction.

Even if you don't accept it,

Your culture influences your way of life,

It's either from your environment or the environment you were before.

Now let's look at some most Nigerian children do before.

When the electricity is restored, they shout a slogan "Off Nepa" or if they're playing football match and the electricity goes off, and let's say that day is the final match, there's no way you'll not hear people shouting "oh" or just shouting.

That's a way of life and Is it a gateway to creativity, sure, you just have to look outside the room, inside the room or everything you know.

Culture either breaks or makes you,

So it's a gateway to creativity and a restriction to.

Your Culture can restrict your from thinking a certain

So the discussion is still open

Culture: Is it a gateway to creativity or a restriction ?

I'd like to know what you think about it.
