Get Your PVC! And Then What?

Tinubu will win this election, If una like make una campaign from now till thy kingdom come, Tinubu will win.

Somebody who wasn't even President at the time told us he would win the election, whether we liked it or not, simply because "Emilokan". And he won. Today that same man is President with all the power and apparatus of state at his disposal, and we think simply campaigning, shouting all over the place, getting our PVCs and voting for our preferred candidate will unseat him. Funny 😂

The real question is: what are we going to do when he's announced winner?

Are we going to wait another four years, start shouting, "get your PVCs" up and down again, vote, lose, complain, and repeat the same ridiculous cycle? Or are we gonna get up, organise ourselves, fill the streets, chase these demons out and take back our country?

Because if it's the former, Tinubu might as well remain President for life, imo. Not because he is invincible, but because we are not serious enough to challenge the system that keeps producing the same results.

If you've never thought beyond Election Day, then you're seriously delulu.

With everything happening in this country, we should be angry enough that the political class can feel the pressure. The tension should be palpable, the country should be boiling in anticipation of the election and the APC should visibly be scared. No individual should even be able to campaign for the APC without receiving mob action.

Instead the political class knows something about us that we don't want to admit: We're all bark and no bite.

We'll accept whatever they throw at us. The highest we'll do is complain.

They increase prices. We complain.

They remove fuel subsidy. We complain.

They rig the system. We complain.

They disappoint us. We complain.

We complain some more. Then we move on

And four years later, the same people come back with bags of rice, promises, propaganda, and another "Get your PVC!" campaign.

And we start all over again. We no dey tire?

The opposition is not even united enough to pose any serious threat. Everybody wants to be the main character, while the ruling class sits back and watches us divide ourselves.

So perhaps the question isn't simply "Who are you voting for?"

The bigger question is:

What happens after the election?

Because democracy isn't supposed to end when you drop your ballot in a box.

If we genuinely want to take our country back, we need more than PVCs.

We need organisation.

We need unity.

We need civic coverage.

We need sustained pressure.

And most importantly, we need to stop disappearing after Election Day.

Otherwise, we'll be back here in 2030 shouting the same things all over again.
