God might have spoken. - by Strength ⚜️

Yesterday, I went to a church for the first time, and somehow, I left with a question I haven't been able to shake off. The worship was beautiful, but that was not it. The atmosphere was electric, but that was not it. The preacher was good, but that was not it! Although, please, the word came raw and undiluted. But somewhere in the service, the preacher said something that landed on me so quietly and so heavily that it felt like a piercing:What if you're waiting for the sermon, but God has finished speaking?Kai. My head fess do gbim gbim! That question has been disturbing me in the best way. Come to actually think about how we attend church. We arrive, then worship, we dance, pray, testimony, announcement, offering and a SPECIAL MINISTRATION from the choir. Then? The man of God comes up. At this point, everybody adjusts like it’s the one moment they’ve been waiting for. Phones disappear. Everyone sit up. Notebooks.. pen..“Now God is about to speak!”But... Who told us? Who told us that God waits for the pulpit before He speaks? Or that the word for you must come wrapped in a sermon?What if the thing you needed was hidden in the opening prayer?What if your answer came through somebody else's testimony?What if that random sentence in a song was the exact thing heaven wanted you to hear?What if the announcement you almost ignored contained the opportunity you had been praying for?What if God spoke but you were waiting for Him to start? That really got me. Sometimes we don't miss God because He was silent, but because He didn't speak in the format we expected. And I think that does not just apply to the church setting. We do this with life too. We become so familiar with a particular pattern that we start confusing the pattern with the process. We expect things to happen “this way”, so when they don't, we assume nothing is happening.We wait for the familiar signal, the familiar feeling, the familiar confirmation, the familiar door. When in real sense, life has already moved.The opportunity came differently.The answer came quietly.The person we needed to meet wasn't introduced dramatically.The correction came from someone we didn't expect.The opportunity didn't look like an opportunity.And because it didn't resemble what we've seen before, we overlooked it. Familiarity can be dangerous like that. It can make you so comfortable with the way something usually happens that you become blind to the possibility that it can happen another way. Back to the church.. What if heaven doesn't care about our programme? Maybe He’s not even bound by the order of service? What if He is speaking through the very thing we've labelled “not yet”? That thought has made me rethink what it means to be present. Being spiritually attentive isn't simply about waiting for God to speak, it could be about refusing to assume that He hasn't. Maybe it's learning to listen before the microphone comes on, because sometimes, the most significant thing that happens to you in a room may not be the thing everybody came prepared to receive. And that’s the DANGER ⚠️ We can become so good at knowing what comes next that we stop noticing what is happening now. Sometimes God is not even asking us to wait for the next thing, He's simply asking:“Did you hear the last thing I said?”
