I don’t give a hoot anymore, and I mean this in the nicest way possible.

Hello, beautiful one,

We are now in November! My God, the year is almost over, and I still haven’t learned to drive, peopleeee. Anyhoo, time still dey.

But welcome to November. In the spirit of thanksgiving, I think I have to mention one area I’m deeply grateful for.

Change.

This year finally opened my eyes to my biggest “red flags”—the things I needed to quietly work on: people-pleasing, unnecessary anxiety, fear, pettiness, etc.

The funny thing about being a people-pleaser is that you genuinely don’t know you’re doing it. When a friend first pointed it out to me, I was like, “Huh? Cannot be me.”

Then I started noticing patterns in my life, and I couldn’t unsee them. I knew I needed to fix it, and honestly, it was draining.

But luckily, the shift started on a Sunday when a friend noticed. She looked at me and said, “The way you’re not panicking right now...”

And it clicked. I actually wasn’t. Maybe it was because I was deeply tired and the sun was scorching, which forced me into an omo-everyone-will-just-be-fine kind of surrender.

But now, I really just say,” Everyone will be fine.”

I’m also grateful—and honestly, a little sad—to realize that people usually know exactly what they are doing. I carried this innocence into the year, thinking things just happened, and people genuinely didn’t know they were wrong, or whatever schemes they had been pulling.

That changed when I saw that there is always a reason, not a coincidence, behind an action or word…. I was shocked, or maybe I had just been blind since.

Anyhoo, I realized there are moments when you just have to grow up and untangle yourself from exhausting habits. I could have easily copped out and said, “Well, that’s just who I am.” But life doesn’t work like that. It really doesn’t.

None of us are perfect, of course, but we have to make sure our imperfections don’t ruin us or sabotage the beautiful work and friendships God has destined for us.

Thank you so much for being here. Some of you have been subscribed for over a year now, and I’m just really happy to see that. Thank youuuu!

And to everyone building up themselves and actively trying to be better, and paint their red flags green, I appreciate you, and I hope your pruning stage goes gently on you.

Love,

Twi-Twi, the one who is growing up.
