NEGATIVITY

Our generation! I mean the Gen Zs generation oooo!

Something is obviously wrong with us. Because what are we thinking? I seriously doubt if I'm from this generation because I don't think in the way you guys think.

Before you ask me "what brought about this insight?" Let me explain.

I was at home bored. "Does Gen Zs feel bored despite many distractions surrounding us?" The boredom wasn't intentional, it was something I couldn't control because my phone was down; our prepaid meter got exhausted and there was no place to charge.

I was thinking of something to get me busy when I saw the MP. Perfect!

I switched it on and obviously, the only thing I could do with it was to put it on Radio mode.

I can't remember when last I listened to a program on radio. Let me even ask "When last did you listen to the radio?" I feel radio stations will be less useful in years to come because my generation don't buy the idea of it.

I started tuning through different stations, luckily, I stumbled on one where a familiar afrobeat song was playing, perfect distraction! I vibe, sing & dance all alone.

You know how boredom can bring out talents you never knew you have. I listened to different programs across different stations. Some irk me while few are of my interest, one of which was a sport program where the main topic was on the UCL matches.

But the program that birth this piece was the one I listened to after I was awaken when sleep itself became boring. It was a group of 3 ladies who anchored the program, their program is feminine based. I remember Ealo wrote an Insight on gender few days ago.

The ladies were discussing on a particular post .

"Ladies! Will you rather marry a billionaire that beats or a poor man who doesn't?".

Hearing this actually didn't stir anything in me at first until one of the ladies said "Why do we ask questions with terrible options? Why must our options be bad ones?"

And that's where the shift in thought started, for real it troubled me till the extent that I took a pen and my note to scribble down this insight. I can't help but think of the question again.

What happened to a billionaire that's also caring and loving?

Why are we so pessimistic in this our generation? We are so much focused on negativity that we doubt whether good things even exist. Or do we think good things only happens in movies? Abi nah only cartoon get happy endings? Is that all we thought?

And I get where most of our problems are from. They stem from content we grew up watching, you can't even watch one Nollywood movie without them infusing the idea of domestic violence, poverty or all this negative stuff.

Man is a product of influence, and our minds can only reflect what it was exposed too.

I can't even express my anger the way I want sef, I'm short of words .

Go back and check the cover image, it depicts what we are busy doing.

And it's all those negativity you carry into this insight, that's why you won't send a tip. You believe if you spend that money you won't earn it back
