<p>PART NINE — THE LAST DREAM</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>The girl screamed.</p><p><br/></p><p>She dropped the knife.</p><p><br/></p><p>It hit the floor with a sharp—</p><p><br/></p><p>CLANG.</p><p><br/></p><p>But the two little girls didn't move.</p><p><br/></p><p>They simply stared at her.</p><p><br/></p><p>One of them was crying.</p><p><br/></p><p>The other was smiling.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then the crying girl whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“Don't trust her.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl froze.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Who?”</p><p><br/></p><p>The little girl pointed behind her.</p><p><br/></p><p>Slowly, she turned.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her mother stood there.</p><p><br/></p><p>But she wasn't old anymore.</p><p><br/></p><p>She was seventeen years younger.</p><p><br/></p><p>And she was holding something in her hands.</p><p><br/></p><p>A silver pendant.</p><p><br/></p><p>The same pendant around the girl's neck.</p><p><br/></p><p>“No…” her mother whispered.</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl stepped backward.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Mum?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Her mother looked directly at her.</p><p><br/></p><p>And screamed:</p><p><br/></p><p>“YOU WERE NEVER SUPPOSED TO REMEMBER!”</p><p><br/></p><p>Suddenly, the kitchen changed.</p><p><br/></p><p>The walls darkened.</p><p><br/></p><p>The floor became covered in blood.</p><p><br/></p><p>The chopping board appeared on the table.</p><p><br/></p><p>Two carrots.</p><p><br/></p><p>One knife.</p><p><br/></p><p>Just like her dream.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then the little girl with the smile walked toward her.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Amy?” she whispered.</p><p><br/></p><p>The little girl shook her head.</p><p><br/></p><p>“That's what she called me.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl frowned.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Then what's your name?”</p><p><br/></p><p>The little girl smiled.</p><p><br/></p><p>And pointed at the other child.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Ask her.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The crying girl slowly lifted her head.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her face was covered in tears.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then she spoke.</p><p><br/></p><p>“My name is Amy.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl's heart stopped.</p><p><br/></p><p>She looked at the smiling child.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Then who are you?”</p><p><br/></p><p>The smile disappeared.</p><p><br/></p><p>The little girl stepped closer.</p><p><br/></p><p>And whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“You.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl stumbled backward.</p><p><br/></p><p>“No…”</p><p><br/></p><p>“You forgot.”</p><p><br/></p><p>“No!”</p><p><br/></p><p>“You forgot who held the knife.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The kitchen went silent.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then—</p><p><br/></p><p>CHOP.</p><p><br/></p><p>The sound came from behind her.</p><p><br/></p><p>She turned.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her mother was chopping carrots.</p><p><br/></p><p>Exactly like the dream.</p><p><br/></p><p>The woman lifted the knife.</p><p><br/></p><p>And suddenly the girl's memory returned.</p><p><br/></p><p>She saw herself as a little girl.</p><p><br/></p><p>She saw Amy.</p><p><br/></p><p>She saw the knife.</p><p><br/></p><p>She saw the blood.</p><p><br/></p><p>And then—</p><p><br/></p><p>she saw herself throwing the knife.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not at Amy.</p><p><br/></p><p>At their mother.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her mother screamed.</p><p><br/></p><p>The little girl Amy grabbed her hand.</p><p><br/></p><p>And together, they ran.</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl gasped.</p><p><br/></p><p>“That wasn't a dream…”</p><p><br/></p><p>Amy appeared beside her.</p><p><br/></p><p>“No.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Amy leaned close to her ear.</p><p><br/></p><p>“It was your memory.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl stared at the blood-covered kitchen.</p><p><br/></p><p>“But why can't I remember?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Amy smiled.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Because Mum made sure you wouldn't.”</p><p><br/></p><p>A loud knock suddenly came from the front door.</p><p><br/></p><p>KNOCK.</p><p><br/></p><p>Everyone froze.</p><p><br/></p><p>Another knock.</p><p><br/></p><p>KNOCK.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her mother looked terrified.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then a voice came from outside.</p><p><br/></p><p>A woman's voice.</p><p><br/></p><p>Old.</p><p><br/></p><p>Familiar.</p><p><br/></p><p>“You promised me one child.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl's blood ran cold.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her mother whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“She's back.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The front door slowly opened by itself.</p><p><br/></p><p>And standing outside was the old woman.</p><p><br/></p><p>She looked directly at the girl.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then smiled.</p><p><br/></p><p>“You finally remembered, Eni.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl stared at her.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Eni?”</p><p><br/></p><p>The old woman tilted her head.</p><p><br/></p><p>“No…”</p><p><br/></p><p>Her smile widened.</p><p><br/></p><p>“That isn't your name.”</p><p><br/></p><p>And behind the girl, Amy whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“Run.”</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Part 🔟 </p><p><br/></p><p>final ............</p>

We pick the top 3.

The Rankings/Leaderboard shows the Top 20 contributors and engagers on TwoCents a monthly and all-time basis
— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
