THE PRICE OF TOMORROW

<p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>When Daniel was ten, people already spoke about his future as if it had been decided.</p><p><br/></p><p>He sold sachet water before school, wore a faded uniform stitched more times than anyone could count, and returned home each evening to a leaking roof. His mother often claimed she had eaten, but Daniel knew she was saving the last portion for him.</p><p><br/></p><p>Neighbors shook their heads.</p><p><br/></p><p>"Children from homes like this hardly make it."</p><p><br/></p><p>At first, Daniel believed them.</p><p><br/></p><p>One evening, his mother held his shoulders and said, Poverty is our address today, not our destination tomorrow.</p><p><br/></p><p>Those words became the fire that kept him moving.</p><p><br/></p><p>Life became even harder after his father died. Daniel carried cement on weekends, washed cars after classes, and studied under a streetlight whenever electricity disappeared. Many nights he wanted to quit, but every time he remembered his mother's voice, he chose one more step.</p><p><br/></p><p>A mathematics teacher noticed his determination and helped him apply for a community scholarship. When the acceptance letter arrived, Daniel and his mother cried over a piece of paper that looked ordinary to everyone else but felt like a door opening.</p><p><br/></p><p>University was another struggle. While others complained about comfort, Daniel focused on opportunity. He attended free workshops, learned new skills, and accepted internships that taught him more than they paid.</p><p><br/></p><p>Years later, the boy once called "Poor Boy" became an engineer leading projects that created jobs for others.</p><p><br/></p><p>When he returned to his old neighborhood, children surrounded him.</p><p><br/></p><p>One asked, "Sir, were you always successful?"</p><p><br/></p><p>Daniel smiled and pointed to the roadside where he once sold water.</p><p><br/></p><p>"I started there. Never let your beginning convince you that it is your ending.</p><p><br/></p><p>The road behind him had changed, but the lesson remained.</p><p><br/></p><p>Moral Lesson</p><p>Your background may explain where you started, but it does not determine where you will finish. With perseverance, opportunity, and hope, today's struggles can become tomorrow's testimony.</p>
