Who Started This Beans Tradition? 😭

Growing up, there was one serious rule in my house:

DON'T ADD SALT TO BEANS YET!

“Leave am! E no go soft!”

😭😭😭

So there you are, watching beans boil from morning till evening.

The beans has seen the sun rise.

The beans has seen the sun set.

At this point, you and the beans have basically started a relationship.

But you still can't add salt because “it won't get soft.” 😂

And nobody questioned it.

You just accepted your fate and kept adding water.

Meanwhile, apparently, salt isn't what is stopping your beans from getting soft.

The age of the beans, the water and how long the beans has been stored can all affect how quickly it cooks.

So all those years of hiding salt from beans like salt was its sworn enemy…

We were just suffering unnecessarily. 😭😂

Imagine telling your mother this now.

“Ma, salt doesn't actually stop beans from getting soft.”

She'll look at you for five seconds and say:

“Okay. Cook your own beans.” 😂

Be honest:

Were you also raised with the “no salt until beans are soft” rule?

Enjoy!!!

Old beans can take longer to soften, so don't blame the salt 😂.
