There comes a point in life when you realize that not every decision needs a long explanation. Sometimes, you know what is right for you, even when other people don't understand it.

You may decide to leave something behind, You may choose a different career path, You may stop attending certain places, You may become more intentional about who you give your time to, You may decide to focus on yourself instead of constantly trying to prove something to everyone else.

And suddenly, people have questions.

“Why are you doing this?”

“Why did you change?”

“Are you sure?”

“What will people say?”

It can be tempting to explain yourself until everyone understands.

But the truth is, everyone may never understand.

And that's okay because, we often feel pressured to make our choices acceptable to other people before we give ourselves permission to make them.

But your life is not a group project.

You can listen to advice, You can consider other people's perspectives, You can learn from people who genuinely care about you.

But at the end of the day, you still have to live with your decisions.

That means you need to be honest with yourself.

Sometimes, saying “this no longer works for me” is enough.

You don't need a ten-page explanation.

Sometimes, “I decided to try something different” is enough.

Sometimes, you simply need to say no.

And no, that doesn't make you rude.

Having boundaries doesn't mean you don't care about people. It means you understand that your time, energy, and attention matter too.

There is also a difference between explaining yourself and communicating respectfully.

You should communicate when your decision affects other people, especially when responsibility or commitments are involved.

But there is a difference between giving someone the information they need and trying desperately to convince them that your decision is valid.

Your decision can be valid even if someone disagrees with it.

That is something I am learning too.

Not every misunderstanding needs to become a debate, Not every opinion deserves a response, Not every person needs access to every detail of your life.

Sometimes, peace comes from knowing when to stop explaining.

You are allowed to grow quietly, You are allowed to change your mind, You are allowed to choose differently, You are allowed to protect your peace without turning your life into a courtroom where you constantly defend your choices.

The people who genuinely care about you may not always agree with you, but they can still respect that you are trying to make the best decisions you can.

So, the next time you feel pressured to explain yourself over and over again, pause.

Ask yourself:

Am I communicating because it is necessary, or am I explaining because I need everyone to approve?

There is a difference.

You don't need everyone's approval to move forward.

You don't need everyone to understand your journey.

And you certainly don't need to shrink yourself just to make other people comfortable with your growth.

Choose wisely, Communicate clearly, Respect others, But don't forget to respect yourself too.

Sometimes, “This is what I have decided” can be a complete sentence.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, do have a wonderful night rest from "Charis Speaks" 😊🤗
