An iphone dream,an hp reality😭😂

‎My mum and I had different ideas about what my future needed. I wanted an iPhone 11. She bought me an HP laptop. 😂

‎

‎In 2024, when I graduated from secondary school, I had a very important request for my mum. If she was going to spend money buying me something, I wanted an iPhone 11. Not a laptop. An iPhone.

‎

‎I didn't think I needed a laptop that badly. In my mind, a laptop was mostly for watching movies, doing school assignments, and joining the laptop-owner gang. An iPhone, on the other hand? Please, that was the dream!

‎

‎But my mum had other plans. After much deliberation, we decided I was getting a laptop. The next question was where to buy one.

‎

‎While my mum made her own enquiries, I remembered a friend from church who sold phones, laptops, and other gadgets. His business was called Phone Hub NG, and I suggested we buy from him.

‎

‎However, my mum wasn't convinced. We were about to spend money on a laptop, and she didn't want to buy something that wouldn't last. In fact, when we got to his shop at Banex, Abuja, my mum was still insisting that we shouldn't buy from him. Let's just say she wasn't whispering her concerns. 😂

‎

‎But something about that experience stood out to me.

‎

‎My friend remained patient with both of us. He listened to what my mum wanted in a laptop, explained the features, and even showed her other options. Rather than rushing us into a purchase, he took the time to explain what was available and recommend something within the price range and suitable for my needs as a student.

‎

‎He recommended an HP laptop running Windows 10, explaining why he believed it would be suitable for me.

‎

‎My mum was still hesitant, but my friend has a way of convincing people! 😂 After explaining the options and patiently answering her concerns, he eventually convinced her.

‎

‎And that was how we bought the HP laptop from Phone Hub NG.

‎

‎My mum made her expectations very clear: if the laptop developed problems before the end of 2024, she wasn't buying me another one.

‎

‎No pressure, right? 😂

‎

‎At first, my movie-watching era officially began. If you'd asked me what I planned to do with the laptop, I doubt I would have mentioned data analysis. I was a fresh secondary school graduate. I wasn't thinking about Power BI dashboards or Excel spreadsheets. I just wanted to enjoy my new device.

‎

‎But as I progressed through university, I started thinking more seriously about my future and the skills I could develop outside the classroom. That's when I began discovering the real value of my HP laptop.

‎

‎I started learning Excel, explored web design (although that journey didn't work out as I'd hoped), and eventually began learning Power BI. Now, I'm learning SQL too.

‎

‎And this is where my laptop surprised me.

‎

‎Before installing Power BI, I'd heard people talk about how demanding the application could be. I wondered whether my laptop would handle it or struggle with constant lag and freezing.

‎

‎I installed it and started learning anyway.

‎

‎To my surprise, it worked well! I could practice what I was learning without the performance problems I'd feared. My laptop had good storage, a battery that continued to serve me well, and dependable performance for my needs.

‎

‎Since I received it in 2024, I haven't had any technical problems with it. We're approaching the end of 2026, and that laptop is still here, doing its job.

‎

‎Remember my mum's warning? The year ended, and the laptop was still working. Nearly two years later, it's helping me learn skills I hadn't even imagined when I first received it.

‎

‎It's been my classroom outside the classroom, my library for ebooks and PDF storybooks, my workspace for Excel and Power BI, and my presentation partner at university.

‎

‎Think about it: the laptop I initially didn't want because I preferred an iPhone has helped me explore skills that could open doors for me in the future.

‎

‎Without it, I honestly don't know how I would have practiced Excel, learnt Power BI, explored web design, or started learning SQL so easily. My phone helps me with schoolwork, but my laptop gives me another space to learn beyond the four walls of the university.

‎

‎And I'm grateful for that.

‎I've come to appreciate the laptop my mum chose for me and the decision to buy it from Phonehub Ng

‎

‎ My hp laptop has served me well, from reading ebooks and storing documents to learning Excel and running Power BI. Of course, different models have different capabilities, so I'd advise anyone buying one to check the specifications against their needs.

‎

‎My experience with Phone Hub NG has also reminded me that a business doesn't have to be the biggest or most widely known for a customer to find a product they genuinely appreciate. What I remember about buying from my friend isn't just that we left his shop with a laptop. It's that, even when my mum was reluctant to buy from him, he remained patient, explained the options, and gave us the time to make a decision.

‎

‎And nearly two years later, I'm still using that laptop.

‎

‎If you're looking to buy phones, laptops, or other gadgets, you can check out Phone Hub NG he is located at old banex plaza wuse 2 by fcmb

‎

I'm not claiming that my laptop is the most powerful machine in the world. I'm saying that it has done what I need it to do, and it has done it well.

‎

‎I haven't made billions of dollars with it yet😂 But who knows? Perhaps one day, I'll look back at the skills I learnt on this very laptop and realize that some of the things that helped me build my future started here.

‎

‎Mum wanted me to have a laptop. I wanted an iPhone. Phone Hub NG sold us the laptop, and now that same laptop is helping me build a future I didn't even know to ask for in 2024.
