Glued to the Wrong Thing

I came across a post about about attachment and it made me realize truly …

That sums it up… the fear of getting attached to something or someone who might not be worth everything you are, or you can give, or is willing to give. The constant lies and the manipulation of reality from your feelings. Knowing what is but choosing to ignore, cause of what feels like delight wrapped in sadness of your own happiness. The lies said like breathing, but better to live than suffocate. But you know the truth.

Maybe that's the hardest part not the leaving, but the waiting before it. The in-between where you already know, but you stay a little longer anyway, just to see if the truth will change its mind.

It never does.

And somewhere in that waiting, you start mistaking survival for love calling it patience when really it's just fear dressed up nicer. Fear of starting over. Fear of admitting the version of you that chose this wasn't foolish, just hopeful in the wrong direction.

So you learn, slowly, painfully, that letting go isn't losing. It's just finally putting your hands somewhere they were always meant to be.

Attachment is never the problem, but to whom it was glued to in the process.

_ writewithoma, in response to nouman_noir
