Inconvenient Dreamers
<p>Science is not only in the lab.</p><p><br/></p><p>Science is you.</p><p><br/></p><p>We like to think invention started with a genius shouting "Eureka!"Â </p><p>It didn't.</p><p><br/></p><p>It started with someone who was tired of suffering in silence.</p><p><br/></p><p>Someone was tired of walking, so the wheel was born.</p><p>Someone was tired of darkness, so they refused to accept the night.</p><p>Someone was tired of forgetting, so they invented writing.</p><p>Someone was tired of losing a child to fever, so they stayed up for 40 years looking into a microscope.</p><p><br/></p><p>No invention was ever born in comfort. Every invention was born from an irritation. From a wound that refused to heal.</p><p><br/></p><p>Professors teach us what was invented.</p><p>But they rarely teach us _who_ had to bleed to invent it.</p><p><br/></p><p>The inventor is not the smartest person in the room.</p><p>He is the most stubborn.</p><p><br/></p><p>The world told him "It is impossible" and he heard "It is not done YET."</p><p>He failed 99 times and the world called him a failure. He called it data.</p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/efe9e6cfc3a49e0812efb41afe8c59d1.jpg"/></p><p>That is the real science we forget to teach:</p><p><br/></p><p>*That every lightbulb in this room sits on top of a mountain of broken bulbs.*</p><p><br/></p><p>*That behind every medicine is a name of someone who died before it worked.*</p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/7266ad2db13a8d8103ebdf3a6535e5e0.jpg"/></p><p>*That every phone you hold was once laughed at as a useless toy.*</p><p><br/></p><p>So to the professors, the teachers, the gatekeepers of knowledge:</p><p><img src="/media/inline_insight_image/36e119e50a16f3cfb5d4deb755a89e6f.jpg"/></p><p>Don't just teach students how to pass your exams. Teach them how to question your textbooks.</p><p>Don't just celebrate the final invention. Celebrate the messy, embarrassing, sleepless drafts before it.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because the next big invention will not come from a student who memorized everything.</p><p><br/></p><p>It will come from a student who was brave enough to say, "What if you are wrong? What if there is another way?"</p><p><br/></p><p>We don't need more people who can repeat science.</p><p><br/></p><p>We need more people who are willing to _live_ it - to be inconvenienced, obsessed, and foolish enough to try again.</p><p><br/></p><p>You are not just learning about inventions.</p><p><br/></p><p>You are the next unfinished one.</p>
