My ₦4,000 Birthday Shoes

Seven years ago, someone took me shopping for my birthday, and I went home with a pair of heels that cost ₦4,000. I chose them because they were beautiful.

I wasn't thinking about how long they would last or whether I'd still be wearing them years later. I just liked how they looked, and that was enough.

I wore them to the cinema, which was quite an experience because I hadn't worn heels in a long time. I had no idea that a pair of ₦4,000 heels would still be part of my wardrobe seven years later.

I've bought things that didn't last nearly as long, so it's nice to have something that has given me this much use. I didn't set out to make a long-term investment;

I just wanted a beautiful pair of birthday shoes.

Seven years later, they're still here, still looking good, and still getting worn.

Jan 4, 2026

As for my ability to walk in heels, let's just say I hope I've improved since that cinema outing. 😂

Looking good was the original plan. Lasting seven years was the bonus.
