The Reality We Cover (part 1)

Our brains are constantly being covered by the sugar we put over reality.

We tell ourselves that if we work hard enough, become successful enough, attractive enough, or important enough, disappointment will eventually disappear.

But it doesn't.

You can have friends and still feel alone.

You can love someone and still be disappointed.

You can give everything you have to something and still watch it fail.

So ask yourself something:

Are you actually doing what you do for yourself, or are you doing it for the people watching you?

Look at the buildings around you.

Someone designed them. Someone calculated every measurement. Someone carried the materials. Someone spent years of their life creating something that thousands of people now walk through without ever knowing their name.

And yet the building remains.

Maybe that is the part we misunderstand about existence.

Not everything meaningful has to make you famous.

Not everything valuable has to receive applause.

Sometimes you create something simply because you wanted it to exist.

The world will disappoint you. People will disappoint you. Sometimes even your own expectations will disappoint you.

That isn't necessarily proof that everything is meaningless.

Maybe it is a reason to stop building your entire identity around being understood, noticed, or loved by everyone else.

Learn to value yourself.

Because if your sense of worth depends entirely on what other people give you, then you have handed them control over your existence.

And perhaps waking up means taking some of that control back.
