I would like to report a case of unpaid labour.

My responsibilities include:

1. Monitoring new stock

2. Notifying potential customers

3. Recommending products

4. Escorting customers to make purchases.

My employer? Chibride Collections.

My salary? ₦0.

And the funny thing is…I never applied for this job lol

It started with something very simple…

I wanted cute things without paying prices that would be a strain to my student bank account

So naturally, I discovered Chibride Collections, a student-owned business selling everything from jewelry and phone accessories to headbands, scrunchies, basic tops and scarves.

I was interested for only one reason..

THE PRICES

Her products were significantly more affordable than other vendors around school.

I bought a phone suction accessory, colorful headbands, and medium-sized scrunchies in different colours.

But here’s the plot twist…

the products were actually GOOD.

The quality was beyond my expectations, the packaging was cute, and the owner was actually polite and pleasant.

I came for the affordable prices. I stayed for the quality and the experience.

And then I made one terrible mistake.

I told my friends.

Actually…I told EVERYBODY.

From the moment I discovered her business, I started recommending her to my friends. Whenever she posted about her new stock, I alerted them immediately. When they wanted to buy something, I didn’t just send them her way, I FOLLOWED THEM.

Jeez, why was I escorting customers to a business where I had no official position? 😭

My entire friendship circle has bought from her because I recommended her. At this point, I need to be on payroll. Even an employee discount would be a beautiful starting point.

But jokes aside, I keep buying from her because my good experience has given me reasons to return. Her vintage and jersey scarves are very affordable and I appreciate finding products that fit my student budget without disappointing me on quality.

What makes me happiest, is that this is a student building a business, and I genuinely want to see it grow.

I didn’t start buying from Chibride Collections with some “grand mission to support student entrepreneurs”. I started because the prices caught my attention. The quality made me return, and the experience made me recommend her to others.

That’s what makes a purchase worth celebrating… finding something good and wanting other people to experience it too.

Chibride Collections, I hope your business grows beyond our university walls. And when you’re celebrating your success, please remember the unpaid marketing department that helped spread the word.

I’ll be expecting my staff jersey scarf. 😂💜

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
