When Your Timeline Becomes Wall Street

Everyone on my timeline is suddenly a stockbroker.

Dangote Refinery is selling 4.1 billion shares. At N525 per share. Minimum buy is 10 shares - N5,250.

And Nigeria has divided into two groups.

Group A: "This is history. This is the refinery that will save the naira. If you don't buy now, you will tell your children 'I had the chance.'"

Group B: "Oga where do you want me to see N5,250? Fuel is N1,430 in Abuja. Rice is not rice again. You want me to use my soup money to buy shares?"

Both groups are right.

My friend Izrplays said something that stuck: "Nigerians don't hate investment, they hate being poor while being told to invest."

But think about it - 10 years ago, people laughed at those who bought Dangote Cement at N20. Today they are landlords.

Maybe this IPO is not just about shares. It's about belief. Do you believe Nigeria can refine its own future?

VeryDarkMan is being dragged for saying Dangote's 2007 shares were a scam. The internet never forgets, but the market never waits.

N5,250.

It's small money and big money at the same time. That's the dilemma of being young in Nigeria right now.

You want to build wealth, but you are still trying to survive.

So the question is not "Will Dangote Refinery succeed?"

The question is - will you be part of the story when they write it?

*Written by Izrplays
