Who gets to decide what is normal

Who Decided What Normal Is?

We spend so much time trying to be “normal.” Normal looks. Normal behaviour. Normal friendships. Normal career paths. Even a “normal” age to achieve certain things.

But who actually decided what normal is?

Sometimes, we change ourselves just to avoid being called weird. We stop saying certain things, hide parts of our personality, pretend to like things we don't, or choose paths we don't even want because we're scared of standing out.

And the funny thing is, everyone is different in their own way. The person you think is “normal” probably has something about themselves they're trying to hide too.

We've created this imaginary standard where everyone is supposed to look a certain way, behave a certain way, succeed at a certain age, and live life in a certain order. Then, when someone doesn't follow that pattern, we quickly call them abnormal.

But different doesn't automatically mean wrong.

Maybe the problem isn't that some people don't fit the standard. Maybe the problem is that we've become so obsessed with fitting in that we forget to question the standard itself.

Because honestly, if everyone is unique, maybe there was never supposed to be one definition of “normal” in the first place.

You don't always have to fit in to be okay. Sometimes, being comfortable with who you are matters more than being accepted by people who only like the version of you that fits their expectations.
